Our 2010 packages program includes:
2010 ‘Discover the Difference’ Package
Discover and explore the rich biodiversity and contrasts of Tropical North Queensland. An in-depth look at the varied ecosystems and natural history of the region. Includes wildlife, plants and landforms, and the effects of climate and land management upon them.
For 2010 Red Mill House offers the following 4 Night Package for nature enthusiasts:
Day 1
- The Daintree Rainforest - explore the tropical lowland rainforest and beaches of the World Heritage listed Daintree National Park.
- All day access to the multi-award winning Daintree Discovery Centre and one hour in-depth Guided Rainforest Eco Tour.
- Picnic lunch with home-made goodies, and morning tea provided.
- Visit the three Daintree National Park boardwalks, all with subtle differences, and enjoy the picturesque beaches.
- Binoculars, maps and other information provided.
Day 2
- The ‘Dry Country’ - emerging from rainforest to open eucalypt forest to dry savanna country, all within a few hours’ drive.
- Full day personalised guided tour with local guide and naturalist Ellen Terrell.
- Journey through Mount Molloy, Granite Gorge and the Mareeba Wetlands and receive in-depth interpretation of the contrasting eco-systems.
- Picnic lunch with home-made goodies, and morning tea provided.
Day 3
- The Daintree Lowlands - discover the ecosystems of the tropical lowlands and Daintree River.
- A two hour guided wildlife cruise on the Daintree River with a focus on birds and reptiles, and the ecosystems of the river.
- A two hour guided walk through the private revegetated and restored land and magnificent wetlands of Wild Wings and Swampy Things. The focus is on plants, insects, birds and habitat protection and restoration.
Optional Day 4
- The Great Barrier Reef - to complete the eco-experience, spend a day on the Reef, either snorkelling or diving with one of Port Douglas’ premier reef charter companies.
- Rates vary, so please enquire about this extra day option.

2010 Daintree Birdwatching Package
For 2010 Red Mill House offers the following 4 Night Package for experienced birders:
- 4 nights deluxe accommodation
- 4 full breakfasts with home made yoghurt, breads and jams plus cereal, juice, local fruits and cooked breakfast
- 2 full days of guided birdwatching with local naturalist and experienced guide and birder Ellen Terrell. One day including a tour on the Daintree River and exploring the local area, with lowland rainforest birding. The other day exploring the drier country west of the Great Dividing Range.
- 2 lunches with home made goodies
- 1 early morning river cruise on the Daintree River.
- 1 guided walk through the private revegetated and restored land and magnificent wetlands with bird hide of Wild Wings and Swampy Things. Time to bird the wetlands.

2010 Introduction to Birdwatching Package
Do you have an interest in birds and would like to learn more about them and about the rewarding art of birdwatching?
This is an opportunity to have personalised guidance in finding and identifying birds, and learning about our local birds here in Tropical North Queensland. We will cover bird characteristics and how to observe and describe them, bird behaviour and habitats, and the use of optics. There will many opportunities for observation in the field in a variety of habitats, and for improving your skills.
These skills will stand you in good stead long after your visit to Daintree.
This program will be conducted by our local naturalist and experienced guide and birder Ellen Terrell, in conjunction with Red Mill House.
For 2010 Red Mill House offers the following 4 Night Package as an introduction to those interested in birdwatching:
- 4 nights deluxe accommodation
- 4 full breakfasts with home made yoghurt, breads and jams plus cereal, juice, local fruits and cooked breakfast
- Introductory talk about local birds and birdwatching
- An evening presentation, over dinner, covering various topics as outlined
- 1 full day of guided birdwatching exploring mid-level rainforest and the drier country west of the Great Dividing Range.
- 1 lunch with home made goodies
- 1 early morning river cruise on the Daintree River.
- Two hours of guided birdwatching in the various habitats of the Daintree Valley
- 1 guided walk through the private revegetated and restored land and magnificent wetlands with bird hide of Wild Wings and Swampy Things. Time to bird the wetlands.
